Throughout this missionary year, I will be doing lots of reading! Whether it's assigned for the missionaries, chosen for my own personal spiritual growth, or just something I want to read for fun, this page can show you what's on my book shelf at the moment, and what I think of it!
Numbers don't mean results! In a world where we are consistently told that our ministry success is based on how many people attend a youth group, Everett Fritz speaks truth into the fact that what ministry truly needs to do is make saints, which is done by serving the basic needs of youth and young adults.
After a lot of hints from the Lord that I should pick up some Ignatian reading, I came across Fr. Timothy Gallagher's book on praying with scripture. I love his focus on interview and encounter-style writing, describing the experiences of people who grow in this style of prayer. As someone who runs Bible Studies, it will be very useful to teach young adults how to pray with scripture, as well as to grow in my own love of scriptural prayer!
Ever since the movie came out, I've been wanting to dig into this book. I loved Andy Weir's The Martian, and have hungry for a new sci-fi book to dive into. A friend of mine had bought it from target and when I told her how I had been wanting to read it, she tossed it to me! Thanks Cece!
